VILLAGE OF PALMYRA
Personnel Committee Meeting
January 9, 2012
Turner Museum
6:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by Personnel Committee Chair Chris Mueller at 6:30 p.m. Roll Call: Mueller, Turner– present. Tietz-excused.
Business
1. The committee reviewed all of the job descriptions for the Fire and EMS personnel positions. They made some slight changes and also added a description for a Fire and EMS Panel because this was referenced in the fire chief’s job description so the committee thought there should be an explanation of their duties.
2. The SOG’s were gone through and basically the only wording changes were to read “The Village of Palmyra Fire and Rescue Department” and change any Committees to Commission as we now have a Fire and Police Commission. Also deleting anywhere that mentioned Fire District.
3. The item regarding any changes to the employee handbook was tabled until we can get more of a legal answer on item number #4, family members working within the same department.
4. Family members working within the same dept. was discussed. Committee member Mueller feels that the fire and ems personnel are not paid full time personnel so this would not pertain to them. Committee member Turner felt that perhaps the Village should change the handbook and take the wording out regarding family members. They decided to have the clerk try to find out if there are any legalities to allowing one dept. to do this but not another. Item tabled. T
The Committee members would like these last three items all on the village board meeting agenda for Monday for the full board to discuss.
There being no further business, motion by Turner, second by Mueller to adjourn. All ayes – motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:203 p.m.
